Investigation by Police Officer

It happened when I was on the way to Texas. We were heading to Austin City. It was already 11 at night. And there was only one line to go through the police security border.

We are extremely relax to go through the security border. At that time, we thought that we did not do anything wrong. We had our identity with us. And we were so confident. Then what happened next?

That was our turn. The officer asked us where are you going? And we just answered that we are heading to Austin for vacation. And he asked for our identification and proof that we are students. Then we gave all our identity card to him. But, there is no proof that we are student here with student visa. We have to show our I20 documents to him. Since we thought that we are still in the USA, so we did not bring our I20 documents. So, the officer asked us to pull over and going out from the car for further investigation.

We were going inside to police station and sit for investigation. The officer checked our status to his computer and asked us one by one for our major and current activity. Finally, the officer found out that we are on the list as students at CSUF. And the police officer gave us a lecture that we have to bring our I20 documents everywhere we go. Even if we are not far away 1 mile from home, the I20 documents should be with us. After the lecture, the police officer allowed us to leave.

My suggestion is "Do not forget to bring your I20 documents with you in everytime and everywhere!"

    1. I felt scared. Because I heard that If something they cannot find out everything about us, they will put us on jail for at least 1 hour. And we was just answered everything we knew. I thought it is not our fault. Since we still in the USA. But, for safety, just bring your I20 always with you.
